ABOUT THE ARTIST William C. Brigham was a Kearny resident for many years, living at 70 Magnolia Avenue. He was well known as a magazine illustrator having a studio at 286 Fifth Avenue in New York City. The Observer, on June 9th 1933 printed the first of his 24 sketches, 'The Old Soldiers Home'. The newspaper slated ' The sketches he will draw will be scenes of interest and beauty about Kearny and Arlington. Each week Mr. Brigham will choose his subject at random. The place, building or spot that interests him most at the moment, he will illustrate, presenting not alone a record of the scene, but the artist's impression of it. Mr. Brigham is a graduate of the School of Fine Arts at Trenton and he won a scholarship offered by the Art Students' League in New York City, He was one of ten artists in the United Stoles and Canada chosen for this honor. For the past twelve years (in 1933) he has been a commercial artist and magazine illustrator. At the end of the year, a notable collection of Kearny and Arlington scenes will have been published.
